Liacare exists because the person we love most said no to every camera, every wearable, every check-in device — and he was right to. So we're building the one he'd say yes to.
My grandfather is the proudest man I know. When his health began to fail, we offered him every technology that promised to keep him safe — cameras, sensors, wearable buttons. He refused them all. His home was his home. Not a hospital ward. Not a surveillance zone.
We respected his choice. And because nothing was watching over him, help came late when he needed it most. His health never fully recovered. Today he lives with two full-time caregivers — the very loss of independence he feared all along.
For a long time I thought he'd made the wrong call. He hadn't. The products were wrong. Every single one asked him to trade his privacy for his safety — and millions of parents quietly make the same refusal every day.
I've spent my career building products from zero: a CES-awarded consumer device, 500+ days on factory floors in Asia, software used by tens of millions of people. Liacare is the first thing I've built that I needed years before I knew how to make it — a safety net with no cameras on the walls, alerts verified inside the home, and a lens that stays mechanically sealed until the moment it's truly needed.
It's the device my grandfather would have said yes to. That's the entire spec.
