How we check facts

We sell a product to the families who read these guides. That is a reason to be stricter with ourselves, not looser. Here are the rules we hold ourselves to.

Who writes the guides

The Liacare team: a small hardware company, not clinicians. We say so on every page. Our guides are not yet reviewed by a doctor, nurse or physical therapist; when one is, the page will name the reviewer, their credential and the review date. Until then, treat the guides as a careful summary of public sources, and take anything medical to her own doctor or pharmacist.

Which sources we use

• First: the CDC's STEADI program, the National Institute on Aging, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, and Cochrane reviews.
• Then: peer-reviewed studies, which we describe with their size and their limits.
• Organizations such as AARP and the National Council on Aging, for practical advice.
• We do not use statistics we cannot trace to a primary source, however often they are repeated online.

How we quote numbers

• Every figure comes with who was counted and when. “37 of 38 long lies among people aged 91 to 105 in one English city” is not “97% of people.”
• If a result was not statistically significant, we say so.
• Every page has a “What we don't know” box.
• Each page shows the date its links were last checked. We re-check when a source changes. The CDC revised several headline figures in September 2026.

What we won't claim

• That any product, ours included, prevents falls, detects every fall, or never raises a false alarm.
• That a checklist makes a home “fall-proof.”
• Frightening statistics about death after a fall that trace back to small studies from decades ago.

Where Liacare appears

At most once per guide, in a box labelled “From Liacare: what we're building,” placed after the advice. When we compare options and ours is one of them, we say so at the top and use the same yardstick for all of them. The free guide always delivers what its title promises; nothing is cut off to sell you the rest.
